LENTON® INTERLOK
 For precast construction, ERICO offers the LENTON® INTERLOK rebar splicing system. It is designed to provide structural integrity between load bearing precast members such as columns, beams and shear walls.
LENTON INTERLOK uses a specially formulated cementitious grout in conjunction with the LENTON taper threaded system. It offers efficient, versatile and cost-effective connections. Features
- Convenient and flexible to use
- Helps eliminate unsightly and costly patchwork
- For all rebar sizes from 20 mm (#6) through 57 mm (#18)
- Optimizes production time while improving integrity of the structure
- Maintains structural integrity through precast sections - reinforcing steel acts as one continuous bar
- Tensile loads are transferred through the rebar independent of the compressive strength of the concrete
- Connection is not detrimental to surrounding concrete, as no heat is produced
ApplicationsTaper-threaded and grouted precast construction splices More InformationThe LENTON INTERLOK coupler is fastened to the bar by means of the LENTON tapered thread. The assembly is positioned within the formwork at the precaster’s plant prior to placement of concrete. The splice is completed at the jobsite, where the exposed dowel of the adjoining structural member is inserted into the sleeve, which is then filled with grout. The completed connection meets or exceeds international codes and standards.

How to Specify By Name: Mechanical splices shall be LENTON INTERLOK manufactured by ERICO
By Generic Description: The mechanical connection shall meet building code requirements of developing in tension and compression, as required, by * . The sleeve shall be produced as a casting from Ductile Iron. One end of the sleeve shall consist of a positive locking tapered thread, while the opposing cylindrical side is designed with equally spaced concentric ribs. Grouting must be performed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended splicing procedures.
* local standards/codes
Installation Information 1. Fasten the LENTON INTERLOK sleeve to the rebar using the positive locking LENTON tapered thread and position the assembly within the formwork using grommets or edge beam locating bolts.
In the case of pump fill applications, install inlet and outlet tubes and seal the ends with rubber stoppers. Pour concrete into the form.
2. Mix the grout filler (or cementitious mortar) according to the mixing directions on the bag.
3. For gravity fill applications: pump (using a hand operated or pneumatic grout pump) or pour the grout into the open end of the coupler and then immediately lower the precast member until properly seated and aligned.
4. For pump fill applications: position the precast member into the open end of the coupler and pump the grout into the inlet tube attached to the coupler until it flows from the outlet tube, then insert a plug in the upper outlet tube. Continue pumping until no additional grout can be pumped into the inlet tube, then plug the inlet tube. Once the grout has set, the plugs can be removed.
The grouted couplers in the precast members should be secured and undisturbed by movement, shock, or vibration until the grout has reached a compressive strength of 21N/mm2 (or 3000 psi). Typically this will occur after 1 day at 21° Celsius (70° Fahrenheit).
